We were taking our six and a half month old daughter for her first trip abroad. My husbands sister stays in London so that was the best option with an infant for a holiday, a home away from home.
We checked in at the Air India counter, cleared immigration and security and were waiting at the coffee shop inside when I realised my daughter was warm. On checking her temperature it showed 101.5 C.
We did not want to get on that nine hour flight. This was the first time she had fever and I just did not know what to do. Had carried basic medicines for her and immediately gave her a Calpol pediatric syrup. My husband Rahul went to the Air India officer and explained the situation and told them that we had decided not to fly. The officer in charge asked us if we would like to see the Air India doctor at the airport. Maybe we were over reacting. We appreciated his concern and agreed to see the Doctor.
The staff was fantastic they deployed a person to go with us to the Doctor . The Doctor also agreed with us that we should not fly. From then on Rahul and I had to do nothing and those guys took over completely. They offloaded our bags, took us back through immigration , wrote a formal letter from our side to cancel our departure. After this they took our tickets and gave us an open ticket coupon. The person deployed to us has dropped us to the gate.
Why would I ever travel anything else but Air India???
