Rahul Gandhi campaigned 87,000 kilometers as reported in the print media and that energy that he enthused has been responsible to a certain extent for such a result. What has helped the party is also the way they handled 26/11. Congress played the diplomatic game and gained a lot more. It was a win win situation in the international arena from day one. Any other country or any other party would have led the country to war.
Till now Congress has won 258 seats and BJP 158. What went against BJP was its PM candidate, its negative campaign and its very communal stand. Whereas Congress represented youth, concentration in economic progress and a secular party.
Few years from now, probably in the next election it will be Rahul versus Modi. Between the two, Rahul has a definite edge for a long time to come.
This is young India which is 70 percent of India’s 1.2 billion population. India and its people have chosen well.
